Tinkerbell and Skippy For the most part, Tink ignores Skippy. She's always been a very good grrrl when it comes to the kitty. Occasionally, when she's feeling especially frisky, she'll take off after the kitty and send her running, but really, overall, she's just very well-behaved, unlike Vern and Star. There is one story, however, that still makes me laugh out loud when I think of it. That's the day I gave Skippy a bath in the kitchen sink. You see, Skippy objects to baths. I know, but it's true. So, previously, I gave her baths in the bathtub. But every time I did that, she'd find a way to grab onto whatever I was wearing, and use her claws like pitons, and mountain climb over me and out of the tub. Then, when I'd staunched the bleeding, I'd track down a soapy cat and try again. I figured the sink was worth a shot, as maybe I could keep better control over her. K, well, it worked after a fashion. Kitty was PISSED OFF. Eventually, I actually had her by all 4 of her feet, like a big game animal tied by it's feet to a pole, and was running her under the kitchen faucet, rinsing her kitty tummy of flea shampoo, when she started making this noise. Now, up to this point, Tinkerbell was sitting in the middle of the kitchen floor, watching, fascinated, as I bathed and argued with the kitty. But when kitty started making that growling, pissed-off-kitty noise, Tink turned tail and RAN out of the kitchen. She ran straight into the living room, and jumped right into the middle of Paul, who was lying on the couch, watching TV. (Oof!) She was trembling and worried. She kept looking through the "window" into the kitchen, and then back at Paul, and kissing him. You could almost hear the words, "Kitty's OK, right, Daddy? 'Cause kitty sounds PISSED, Daddy. Kitty's not gonna 'get' me, is she, Daddy? 'Cause she sounds PISSED, Daddy. It's OK, right, Daddy? It's all gonna be OK, right? Right? 'Cause it doesn't sound OK right now, Daddy..." I have to share, it's WAY hard to laugh and hold a pissed off, slippery, growling cat at a safe distance! |
